Quote: › That is an interesting approach to keeping the ten commandments.
Could you kindly explain which of the ten we should no longer keep?
Certainly: This one
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy."
Quote: › Could you explain why one should not keep those commandments?
Of course Rev2 .
Its a little known fact that when Moses brought down the law on the stone tablets, that like all law it had an attached glossary of legal terms and explanations which was on a piece of paper in Moses's pocket .
Now the passages in question start with "Thou shalt" ,and in way of explanation the glossary says "The thou in thou shalt will pertain only to the Jews to whom these laws are addressed" . So the laws are not for you or me (subject to the terms and conditions of the O.T.). Christians however should obey most of the laws as they are repeated in the N.T. as being obligatory on Christians. However the Sabbath command is not included amongst them.

Dear Mole,
I think that your perception of keeping the sabbath is not what the Lord intended. Keeping the sabbath day holy has never been revoked. Since Christ is also Lord of the sabbath it was wholly proper as the administrator to change the sabbath to the first day of the week.
Also, you should recall that the commandment was not to just the Jews. The commandments were given to all the tribes of Israel and also to all others who would hearken unto the word of God.
I would find it a little unjust for God to require only certain people to keep his commandments. Having said that, I realize also that there are many today among some faith’s who maintain that keeping God’s commandments is not required or needed for “salvation”.
Have you ever realized that you yourself could very well also be a descendant of Israel?

No thats right The Jews to whom the commandment applies should still keep it holy.

Why not, only certain people benefited from being his chosen people. Does anyone shed a tear for those poor innocent Cannanites who got kicked out by God's chosen people.

This is very likely as I've said before Queen Victoria had over 1000 descendants in 160 years. Extrapalate the graph back to Abraham.? But I'm as likely to be Jewish as those 1000 people are to be Royal.

I apologize that I was not aware of this doctrine.
So, are you saying that all others except the Jews must keep all other commandments of God except the Sabbath?
Are there any other commandments which we do not need to keep?

No; only those who sign up to being a christian. I as an agnostic don't feel obliged to worship God etc.

I'ld have thought "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." would be right up there. Unless it's given as a commandment in the N.T. (witch which it ain't)

Consider this prophesy found in:
Isaiah 14:FOR the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land:and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
It should be abundantly evident from my previous post and the above that not only will Israel will again be gathered in the latter day, but we learn from these Old Testament prophets that this gathering would also include the gathering or joining of the gentiles into the gospel net as well.
Now that we observe that this wonderful blessing of the gospel was delivered anew and extended to the gentiles, we all need to remember and be very cautions and careful to observe God’s commandments like unto Israel. Israel rebelled against the Lord and his commandments and by so doing forsook the covenant.
Let not the gentiles for a single moment fall into the false belief that they are immune from the same pitfalls that the House of Israel fell prey to! Yes, it is true that the gentiles who hear the latter day voice of the Lord will if they so hear go up to the House of the God of Jacob and learn of his ways and walk in his path. We must always remember this cardinal warning so powerfully given in Luke chapter 21 wherein he speaks not only of the mighty events that will transpire prior to the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but gives us in our day a very powerful warning and reminder that there will come a day off reckoning when “and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”
Yes, it is true that Israel in the latter days will receive the gospel from the gentiles.
Yes, it is true that Israel must then forsake her sins and serve the Lord in righteousness that they may again be worthy to partake and receive again that everlasting covenant made unto their fathers for all generations.
Yes, we should remember that it was man alone that was guilty of changing the ordinances and broken the laws, and broke the everlasting covenant which God himself made with their fathers. God always has been and ever will be 100% true and faithful in honoring His covenants!
The gentiles who received the gospel and all the blessings of the covenant are under the same obligation to keep every law and statute and charge which the Lord gave unto Avraham, Isaac and Jacob and all their posterity.
I fear that a great many of the gentiles have largely forgotten those ordinances and the covenant which were to be received by adoption, and, like Israel, have forsaken his commandments, thereby bringing upon themselves a day when “the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” A deeper understanding of this day will be covered later.
Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations:and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Since that which was spoken of by our Lord in the 21’st chapter of Luke is so very vital and of such extreme importance to each of us in our day I will re-quote it that we may more closely examine it and refresh our understanding in order that we might conduct ourselves in a manner so as to be worthy to abide and prepare ourselves for the coming days of calamity.
Is it not wisdom to prepare every needful thing?
Do not the scriptures fully declare that if we are prepared, we need not fear?
Has the failure of anyone to prepare either temporal or spiritual preparation for impending disaster ever been a safe course?
Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Have all christians everywhere taken to heart, all elements of emergency preparation that we may be self sustaining in times of emergency, disasters such as tornadoes or other related weather disasters or unexpected health conditions, loss or job or other emergencies? Should not all true christians set a admirable example in this regard?
One only has to read the scriptures to gain a clear picture of what lies ahead.
The warning is not to Israel alone, but to all. The Lord has remined us that “when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.” Should we, if we are wise, perhaps clue in to what the Lord has declared and post haste in times of plenty, make wise preparations?
I sometimes find it a bit ironic that some of our wonderful neighbors who do not believe in Christ do a better job of emergency preparedness that do believers.
I have placed additional emphasis and focus upon this warning from Christ, because we at this day should observe these very conditions arising before us. Can we afford to ignore this sober warning?
Can we afford to remain in apathy?
Great mercy has been extended to us to heed the warning voice of Christ and his prophets. That same warning voice was given to Joseph who was sold into Egypt. Do we have ears to hear as did Joseph? Are we willing to respond and believe as he did? Are we willing to ignore and walk in blindness and face impending calamities with fear and trembling due to our lack of preparation?
Finally I ask this one question. If our transportation and utility systems were to fail for just three months, would you be prepared to be self sufficient for yourself and family to survive without purchase of food, water and sanitation needs for even that short period of time?

The Old Testament prophets and New Testament prophets foresaw the day when Israel would so steeped in apostasy that most would reject their Redeemer. Israel had been the standard bearers of the covenant and the gospel for several thousand years. With the advent recorded in Acts we see this responsibility now given to the gentiles. The gentiles have had about two thousand years to sustain and uphold and obey Christ’s teachings. History will judge us and demonstrate whether we have largely been true and faithful in following Christ and his teachings, or, on the other hand if we have been unfaithful to our risen Lord and master.
According to prophecy the gentiles after having received the gospel for a very long season will have become largely apathetic and will like ancient Israel will have forsaken the commandments and served other masters. At this time we will see a marvelous work and a wonder as the remnant of the House of Israel hearkens in these latter days and forsakes her sins and returns unto the living God and remembers God’s everlasting covenant. This gathering is currently ongoing, but will greatly expand in the near future with exponentially greater impact during a very turbulent time period.
That time at which the times of the Gentiles is to be fulfilled will be marked by the following spectacular events as prophesied by Christ:
Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Are we at this very day beginning to see these very conditions before our eyes?
Are we seeing a growing “distress of nations, with perplexity” as our Lord so prophesied?
Are we so blinded that we fail to recognize this a a sign of the times spoken of by the Lord?
Will our reaction be any different as we witness the “signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars” or “the sea and the waves roaring” as our dear Lord has prophesied and warned?
What we are now witnessing is just the beginning. The “distress of nations, with perplexity” is only in it’s infant stages. This will continue to increase in magnitude and increasing perplexity.
The Lord’s expression of “the waves roaring” should not be confused with the every day minor roaring one may hear from ocean waves. This “roaring” will be a far more and exceeding nature and intensity. This will be so intense that normal shipping as we see today will be totally disrupted. This condition will bring about many other catastrophic conditions in it’s wake. The exists no man made machines that can withstand the mighty power of the seas heaving themselves beyond their bounds.
26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Should we have clear and profound understanding why the condition of “Men’s hearts failing them for fear” will exist? Is this not simply the result of man’s failure to prepare?
Is there that we and all Israel should do to prepare for those coming days?
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Our Lord than teaches using the following parable.
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
It is clear that the term “generation” as spoken here by our Lord was not intended for those then living, but would clearly indicate that “this generation” carried the implication which meant all who lived or would live up to the time of his second coming.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Verse 34 contains a most powerful warning and message on some of the things we should avoid that that day should not “scome upon you unawares.” Might this strongly suggest that there is an urgent need to make serious preparation for that day?
How can one prepare without specific and clear instructions on what and how to prepare every needful thing?
Does verse 34 list some things which we should avoid ?
Does verse 34 also indicate where our focus should be?
Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
If anyone thinks that he or she can in any way escape those things, then think again, for Christ clearly hits right on the mark in the following verse 35.
This message applies to all living souls, both Jew and Gentile, believing or non believing. None shall escape for ALL his words shall be fulfilled.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Each of us should examine ourselves to see what course correction may be necessary to assure that we may be found“worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
It is my firm testimony that there is a clear message from the Lord in the following verse which teaches us not only temporal preparation, but also required of each of us, is a clear charge to each and every one of us to become so spiritually prepared by being or becoming“accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
To fail to prepare, is to prepare to fail.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

It might be profitable to examine more closely those signs of the times given by our Lord in his mercy that would warn us that we might become worthy to abide that day spoken of in our last post,
Do we at this very day hear of wars and rumors of wars?
Do we hear of any commotion or instability in governments world wide?
Do we hear of distress in and among nations?
Do we ever hear rumors of corruption and massive fiscal irresponsibility that would place governments on the very brink of bankruptcy?
Luke 21: 9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
Do we observe another sign of the times as found in verse 10?
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Are we not also seeing the beginning of those signs prophesied of by our master as found in verses 11 and 12?
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.
Perhaps it would be well for each and everyone of us to examine ourselves to see which side of the fence we are on.
Are we the persecutors or are we the persecuted?

Dear Mole,
Wow! That's great news from you. I am glad to hear that there are no wars or rumors of war and no conflicts between nations, no civil unrest, and no kingdoms against kingdoms. How refreshing Probably the best thing for you to do is sit back, relax and drink in apathy and prop your feet up and eat chocolates and enjoy this world of peace. After all wars, anarchy, and perplexity of nations are just a myth, right?
Surely these and other calamities could never strike wonderful NZ, or could they?
Be patient and watchful.

In the 22nd chapter of Luke we observe an often overlooked sacred charge and responsibility given to the apostles in relation to the judgement of the 12 tribes of Israel.
We should also observe that the Father had delegated all judgment unto the Son as found in:
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
The work of the Apostles is also not yet finished, for as we have seen that the Father had delegated all judgement unto the Son, we now observe in Luke 22 that the Son likewise has also delegated that power and authority to judge the twelve tribes of Israel unto the Apostles.
Luke 22: 29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
This should be interesting to observe as we see this scenario played out before us in the coming years ahead. Obviously the apostles have a huge amount of work yet to do in order to fulfill this charge as given by Christ to them.
To those who have erred in declaring that the apostles work is finished, it might be well to reconsider their views in light of the charge Christ has given to the Apostles to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

Dear Mole,
According to the dictionary, 1. Kingdom may apply to a government or country headed by a king or queen; a monarchy; 2. a realm or domain.
The word Dom: 1. The rank, position or dominion of (kingdom) 3. a total of all who are (officialdom)
In the broadest sense this appears to leave no exceptions for any government.
