Proper personal worthiness was required for those who served therein. In some cases those who so served were identified by name as found in the following:
“1 Chronicles 6:10 And Johanan begat Azariah, (he it is that executed the priest’s office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:)”
Yes there were times recorded in the scriptures wherein the temple of the Lord was desecrated by even the heathen who dso entered the temple contrary to the commandment of the Lord as seen in the following:
“Lamentations 1:10 The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.”
There have also been occasions when those of the House of Israel themselves, had by their actions defiled the sacred temple. We should all remember the wrath of the Lord himself on the occasion when He drove out the money changers from His Holy House.
”Mark11:15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written,My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
The Lord not only drove out those that defiled the temple, but we should also observe that it was he himself who used the sacred temple to teach the people therein.Unfortunately we do not have all those teachings of Christ while in the temple. This loss could be due to neglect or loss, but may have also been teachings of such sacredness that they were given only to those within the temple. This is recorded in:
“Luke 19:45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;
46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.”
Another point to remember here is that we do not have all the words of God in the Bible. For it is so recorded that "he taught daily in the temple." If one cannot produce those many words of God spoken or taught to the people over a period of many days in that holy temple in Jerusalem then it is most obvious that we do not have all His words.
John records in his account this occasion regarding the temple that shows Christ’s zeal for His holy house in the following:
“John 2:13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.”
By the way do you know where this was written as stated in verse 17?

Rev2 said
"Do we observe another sign of the times as found in verse 10?
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: "
And I said "no". He can't apparently name any two countries rising against each other at the present.
I acknowledge that thing ain't been too good in the last 100 years but things seem to be getting better now.
So it seems God missed the boat with wars being a sign of the end times. So you don't need to hold your breath waiting for it. And if the end times are imminent someone needs to pull their finger out and get the temple rebuilt for the antichrist to sit in.

Dear Mole,
The lists of wars since 1800 is incredibly long. I am going to attempt to paste this list here. If that does not work I will list the links where you may view them yourself.
The cut and paste does not work so I will get back with the link info.

Dear Mole,
Here are a couple of links that will list the many wars since 1800 to the present. I did not attempt to count them. Some might be very surprised to view the huge quantity or number of wars.
On the second wiki link you may view wars from before 1000 AD to the present.

Dear Mole,
That list of wars may not be a surprise to you as one who has studied that aspect of history, but I suspect it may come as a great shock to a great many who may not be aware of the vast quantity of wars fought in this world during the last 200 years.
If you are lulled into a false security that we are living in a time of peace, then you might want to observe carefully the many conditions in and between nations and pending natural disasters that individually or collectively could erupt into global conflict.

We have seen that the Lord was zealous that there was to be a special reverence and decorum maintained in His temple. The temple was a unique house of worship separate and apart from other sacred edifices. And yes:
“ John 2:17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.”
If even our Lord was zealous in maintaining the sacred atmosphere in His temple, should not we also follow his example?
Part of that example is illustrated by the apostle Paul in the following:
“Acts 21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
27 And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
28 Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
29 (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30 And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.”
It appears that there were certain false accusations made against Paul in the temple on that occasion. and yet even those false accusers did not take action against Paul in the temple, but “drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.”
Paul later in chapter 24 gives his account of his preparation for entering the temple and that which related as follows:
“Acts 24:17 Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.
18 Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.”
“1 Corinthians 9:13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.”
The apostle John also gives very clear indication regarding the future use of the Lord’s temple, their personal requirements and service in the temple.
“Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.”
Obviously if such temple worship is to be fulfilled according to scripture as John testifies, then it is also obvious that future temples must also be built to fulfill sacred writ.

Temples have had traditional importance and purpose and application for all Israel and the Lord.
We observe in the days of Eli:
“1 Samuel 1:9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord.”
We observe that the child prophet Samuel was called at such an early age. Consider this calling and reference to the temple of the Lord:
“1 Samuel 3:1AND the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
4 That the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6 And the Lord called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him. 8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child.
9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
11 And the Lord said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.”
Consider also David’s experience as follows:
“2 Samuel:7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.”

Thanks for the lists Rev2.(See they couldn't forget the British Zanzibar war of 1896 either). Does Wikipedia have any list for countries that may be at war now.
Actually Rev2 wars seem to be like; earthquakes, the size of slips of sand at the bottom of an egg timer, and many other things as well. They are consistant over the long term. For every earthquake of a certain size there will be 10 earthquakes of one tenth of that size. for every war that kills 10000 people there will be 10 that kill 1000. There will be statistical aberations of course, and I suspect we are going through one now with less waring than average.
Update!
I had a look at your lists and the only country fighting another country is also the only example I could think of. The worlds newest country South Sudan and the worlds most insignificant country North Sudan. Hardly a reason to hold my breath for the imminent ending of the world as we know it. In ancient Israel there were three successive temples built, respectively, Solomon, Zerubbabel, and Herod the Great. The last mentioned was the Temple of the time of Christ. (1) Solomon’s temple-- the design, plan, and location of the building were furnished by David under divine direction. He collected and immense amount of gold, silver and brass for it;s erection, besides great quantities of iron, stone and timber, etc., although he was forbidden by God from beginning the work.
The building was commenced by Solomon in the fourth year of his reign. It’s parts were all prepared at a distance, and when brought together the Temple was built, nor was the sound of “hammer, nor axe, nor any tool of iron, heard in the house while it was building.”
(Should not we all find this most interesting prefabricated construction concept utterly fascinating to say the least!)
Is there, in fact, something the Lord is also teaching us that we should learn in this most unusual construction process or method, as the House of the Lord was so fitly framed and constructed off site and quietly assembled on site according to the design of the Master Builder?
Does the construction of the Temple built by Solomon possibly set a benchmark date which initiates historically prefab construction techniques and methods?)
The front of the temple was toward the east, and the dimensions of the temple proper, exactly double those of the Tabernacle, after the fashion of which it was made. The brazen laver, which in the Tabernacle was a simple urn, was represented in the Temple by a great basin resting on twelve brazen bulls. The Holy of Holies was a small square dark chamber. There the ark stood on a small rough protuberance of the natural rock on which the temple was built. On each side stood a golden cherub and the wings of these figures met above the Ark. The connection between this chamber and the sanctuary was through folding doors of olive wood hung with costly embroidered linen fabric. The Temple was completed B.C. 1005
It was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar after having stood more than 400 years.
1 Kings6:3 And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
5 And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:
17 And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.
32 The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees.
33 So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.
1 Kings 7:21 And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.
30 And every base had four brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof had undersetters: under the laver were undersetters molten, at the side of every addition.

The temple of the Lord was Holy and would possibly withstood the test of time for many years longer. I think that when careful observation is made that we will find that the desecration and destruction or preservation of the temple carries a close parallel between the personal worthiness of Israel as a body and individuals as well.
Does history record an account of desecration and destruction of the Temple when those of the House of Israel were faithfully keeping God’s commandments?
Is there a close connection to the destruction of the Temple and the corruption of the covenant people?
2 Kings 11:10 And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the Lord.
11 And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.
12 And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.
13 And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the Lord.
2 Kings 18:15 And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house.
16 At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
2 Kings 23:4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth-el.
2 Chronicles 4:7 And he made ten candlesticks of gold according to their form, and set them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.
8 He made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made an hundred basons of gold.
22 And the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers, of pure gold: and the entry of the house, the inner doors thereof for the most holy place, and the doors of the house of the temple, were of gold.
26:16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
27:1JOTHAM was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Uzziah did: howbeit he entered not into the temple of the Lord. And the people did yet corruptly.
2 Chronicles 36:7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
This vandalizing and pilfering of the contents of the temple was staggering to say the least. This desecration of the great Temple built by Solomon was trajic and remained such until the time of Zerubabel.

(2) Zerubabel’s Temple
The work of rebuilding the temple was superintended by Zerubabel and Joshua, but was not finished until twenty years later. It was one third larger than Solomon’s Temple, but not so magnificent, and besides, it had no ark of the covenant, and no sacred fire. The principle difference between this and the old building was the arrangement of the court of the worshippers which was divided into two parts, an outer court for the gentiles and an inner court for Israel; and the fortress tower at the northwest corner, which was the residence of the Persian, and afterward the Roman governor This temple was the scene or more glorious illustrations of the Divine attributes than were ever seen in Solomon’s Temple, and it stood for nearly 500 years, when it was rebuild by Herod the Great.
Ezra 3:6 From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the Lord. But the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid.
10 And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
Ezra 4:1NOW when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the Lord God of Israel;
2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
5 And hired counsellers against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
We thus observe from the above that the rebuilding of the temple of the Lord was met with great opposition from others not of the House of Israel.

We should so note that after such a long time without having the temple of the Lord or House of God, that there must have been great excitement and joy among Israel for we see in the following their recorded response:
Ezra3:8 Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the Lord.
9 Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
10 And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
11 And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
12 But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
13 So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.
This was not a boisterous shout, but a sacred, unified, reverent and joyful “Hosanna shout” rendered unto “God and the Lamb” with great joy and rejoicing by the children of Israel.

This rebuilding of the Lord’s temple by Zerubbabel was not only met with opposition, but took many years to complete. The Bible records that there were at least two prophets of the Lord, namely Haggai and Zechariah who: “prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.” How unfortunate it is that we do not have all the words of their prophesies.
Ezra 5:1 THEN the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
3 At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
4 Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?
5 But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
6 The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:
7 They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.
8 Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.
9 Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
10 We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
11 And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.
In the following verse we find the clear reason why the blessings of the temple of God were taken from the house of Israel. This is indicative that the desecration of His holy house was defiled by the wicked state of apostasy of those of the House of Israel. How tragic it is that king Nebuchadnezzar destroyed this sacred edifice and carried much of it’s contents away into Babylon as well as the Israelites themselves.
12 But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
13 But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.
It was not until the reign of king Cyrus that a decree was made to remove those sacred items from the heathen temple and return them to the temple of The Living Lord God of Israel, that was to be rebuilt in Jerusalem.
14 And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
15 And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.

5:16 Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.
Anyone venture to guess how manny years it took to rebuild the Lord’s temple at this time?
We see also that king Darius was an active participant in recovering certain vessel’s and items which belonged to the temple as mentioned in verse 5 below.
Ezra 6:1 THEN Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.
2 And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:
3 In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;
4 With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expences be given out of the king’s house:
5 And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.
Nehemiah 6:10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
Psalm5:7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
We are also given this sacred and sober reminder found in:
Psalm 11:4The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
Temple worship among the House of Israel was, perhaps, a most precious experience among the faithful for we find inPsalm 18 David records that “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God:”, and what was the Lord’s response to those humble cries and pleas? It is simply this “he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.” Is not this the very level of sweet sacred communion for which all of us should strive?
Is there anyone but we ourselves who impose any limitation whatsoever on our capacity to strive and achieve this same level of communion with God? Verily no! For God is no respecter of persons. This is, perhaps, one of the most difficult points of doctrine for us to grasp and accept. Christ himself found on many occasions an intense barrier in the minds of many who could not accept new doctrine and truth. In far to many instances those who heard the master’s teachings were unprepared to receive them. Their minds were in those instances closed. They said “this is an hard saying, who can receive it?” The scripture then records that due to their hardness of heart “there were many who followed after him no more.”
Are we of today any less prone to find ourselves guilty of falling into that same mindset?
Psalm 18:6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
Psalm 27:1 THE Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

Consider carefully the sacred purposes, import and experiences which may attend those who are worthy and serve faithfully in the Lord’s temple.
Psalm 29:9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests:and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
Psalm 48:9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
Psalm 65:4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
Psalm 68:29 Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.
We all should remember and cherish this powerful testimony and witness of Isaiah experienced in the temple as recorded in:
Isaiah 6:1 IN the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
In this same temple experience Isaiah also speaks of a future glorious day to come when “the whole earth is full of his glory.”
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
We all should have in our remembrance this additional testimony and witness which was given by Isaiah as shown in the temple of God “for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” What a glorious temple experience this was for Isaiah.
Is there anything besides our own lack of worthiness and preparation which would prevent each of us today from receiving this same personal witness?
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
Does verse 7 indicate the completeness of Isaiah’s repentance and preparation which allowed him to receive such heavenly experiences?
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
12 And the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
