June 17, 2005 ? A routine housecall for cable service in Des Moines, Wash., didn't turn out to be so routine after two repairmen saved a drowning boy in a swimming pool.

Ten-year-old Jamario Covington was horsing around with his cousin in the swimming pool of his apartment complex when he lost his footing in the deep end. His baby sitter did not know how to swim, and ran frantically to the parking lot to alert Comcast workers Todd Hickam and Ryan Thornhill who were on their way out.

Thornhill immediately called 911 while Hickam dove into the pool and pulled Covington out. Then Thornhill passed the phone to Hickam and performed CPR on Covington. Thornhill was able to restore Covington's breathing, but he remained unconscious until paramedics arrived.

Jamario's father, stationed in Korea with the U.S. Army, took an emergency leave of absence and rushed home when he heard his son had almost drowned. When he arrived, he learned his son's life had been saved by two good Samaritans.

"I wanted to let them know that I'm going to count that blessing every day that they gave to me and my family and that I'm defending this country for them as well as my family," said Larry Covington.

Hickam and Thornhill had an emotional reunion with Jamario's parents.

"It just reminds you how precious life is and we have kids of our own, and you know. The first thing I thought of was my own kids after it all happened and it means a lot to see us all back together and see that he's doing well," Hickam told ABC's "Good Morning America."

Jamario remains in the hospital and is still heavily medicated, but he is breathing on his own and recovering.

to be able to help people in need of help in the exact moment when the help is most needed, is a priviledge denied to many!
